The methodology used includes several steps and clinical practices that ensure the success and safety of the therapy.
- Interview / Identification / Assessment Consultation – The psychologist conducts a detailed assessment to understand all relevant clinical information, identify the issues to be addressed, and define the therapeutic goals.
- Guidance for Therapy – Planning of exposure sessions, including an explanation of how the sessions will work and the technology used.
- Relaxation Techniques Training – Learning breathing exercises and focused attention techniques to manage any discomfort during the process.
- VRET Sessions – The technology involves the client using specialized Virtual Reality goggles, while the psychologist configures and controls the 3D virtual scenarios (visual and auditory stimuli) from a computer. In a comfortable setting, the client is immersed in a virtual world, allowing them to experience it as if it were real. During the sessions, the psychologist continuously monitors and controls the client's immersion, making the necessary adjustments to intensity and exposure.;
- Post-Session Reflection – At the end of the session, a reflection will take place, where the client will have the opportunity to share their experiences, emotions, and insights gained during the session. This process aims to help the client apply what they have learned to real-life situations.
- Review and Adaptation – Throughout the entire process, the client's progress will be continuously assessed, with adaptations made according to the client’s unique needs.
- Conclusion and Follow-Up – The knowledge consolidated during the sessions is ready to be applied in the real world. Follow-up sessions are scheduled whenever regular client support is deemed necessary.
